The influence of Low Impact Development (LID) on basin runoff in a half-urbanized catchment: A case study in San Antonio, Texas

Low Impact Development (LID) was promoted as an alternative to conventional urban drainage methods. The effects of LID at the site or scales have been widely evaluated. This project aims investigate impact implementation on basin runoff a regional scale in half-urbanized catchment, particularly overlap and rural sub-flows peak times. A SUPERFLEX conceptual model framework is adapted semi-distributed simulate rainfall-runoff relationship catchment for San Antonio, Texas, case study. Scenario analyses both development are conducted. Results show that (1) infill strategy benefits more from control than sprawl development; (2) non-flood season, permeable pavements, bioretention cells, vegetated swales decrease significantly, green roofs good volume retention; (3) contrary general opinion about reduction effect LID, partly urbanized, basin, delays peaks may cause larger stacking runoffs, leading under extremely wet conditions.
